Betty S. Lai, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, School of Public Health, Georgia State University. Betty Lai received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with a specialization in children and families, from the University of Miami.
Her research focuses on how children and families respond to trauma and violence. In her work, she has examined responses to community and family violence, mass violence (e.g., war), mass trauma (e.g., disasters), and reactions to more subtle forms of victimization (e.g., peer victimization, cyber victimization). For her AVA Scholar project, she will examine and describe patterns in barriers to treatment enrollment and engagement among parents of children exposed to abuse and trauma.
