The Trauma Informed Health Care Education and Research (TIHCER) collaborative is a multidisciplinary group of health professionals working to advance trauma-informed care across the continuum of practice through ground-breaking, transformative interprofessional education and research. TIHCER got its start as an affinity group of the AVA and had its first in-person get together at the AVA Global Health Summit in 2018. It has grown to a group that includes more than 200 members located in 31 states and 7 countries representing 34 undergraduate medical education and residency programs, 7 pediatric clinics and hospitals, 7 psychiatry and behavioral health departments, 6 national councils and organizations, 5 Veteran Affairs programs, 3 specialty clinics, 3 social change networks, 2 Departments of Health and Human Services, and 1 human information technology corporation.
TIHCER has fostered much collaboration that has resulted in the first set of TIC competencies for undergraduate medical education*, several national presentations, and multiple publications. Several TIHCER members contributed to a special collection of The Permanente Journal on Trauma Informed Health Care - https://www.thepermanentejournal.org/collection-trauma-informed-healthcare
