Frank W. Putnam, MD Bio

Frank W. Putnam, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1987, while a research scientist at the National Institutes of Mental Health, he co-founded the seminal Female Growth and Development Study (FDGS) prospectively following the long term psychological, biological and social effects of sexual abuse on girls, aged 6-15 at enrollment, into middle age and including their non-abusing mothers/caretakers and their children - three generations in all.
