George A. Terezakis, Esq.
George Terezakis, Esq. is a highly respected immigration and criminal defense attorney with more than 35 years of experience serving Long Island’s Hispanic community. He is a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received his B.A. in 1982. He graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 1985 and was awarded the Law Faculty Award. His practice is focused on deportation defense, family-based immigration, asylum, and the intersection of criminal and immigration law.
Deeply committed to human rights advocacy, Mr. Terezakis worked with human rights organizations in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala during the 1980s and has remained a dedicated advocate for immigrant communities throughout his career. He has served on the Board of Directors of both the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Law Section and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a former chair of the Immigration Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, co-chair of the Association of Deportation Defense Attorneys, and president of the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association. He is a frequent lecturer on immigration and criminal-immigration legal issues and is widely recognized for his expertise on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
The most rewarding aspect of Mr. Terezakis’ work is keeping families together and bringing their loved one’s home from immigration detention. When he is not in court or doing legal writing, he enjoys cycling and boating. Mr. Terezakis is fluent in Spanish and regularly travels throughout Latin America.
