Abstract/Longer Description:
Vincent Felitti, Co-Investigator on the ACE Study will present the study findings and his current ideas for integrating this knowledge into healthcare. Randell Alexander will discuss the national movement toward "No Hit Zones" in Children's Hospitals and other places. Brooks Keeshin will describe his team’s development of an evidence-based care model for identifying traumatized children in primary care and referring them for evidence-based treatment. Victor Vieth will describe the CAST and CAAST programs for integrating education about child maltreatment, trauma, and resiliency into undergraduate education. F. David Schneider will discuss efforts to integrate this knowledge into primary care for adults. Martina Jelley will describe her training program for residents and medical students to teach them how to inquire about ACEs and other severe traumas in adult patients. Susie Wiet will present the Health Resiliency Questionnaire (HRQ) and it first standardization data. Machelle Madsen Thompson will summarize her cross-cultural development of a screening measure for resilience in children and adults. Cindy Lau will describe the Support, Connect and Nurture (SCAN): Addressing the Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in the Pediatric Medical Home project that seeks to address the impact of ACEs on the health and well-being of children and families in Pueblo County, Colorado; Leighton Huey will present “On the Path to Full Integration: One System’s Approach to Addressing Trauma;” and Tasneem Ismaiji will discuss a wholistic framework for addressing violence and abuse throughout the life course.
