Building on 20 Years of AVA Success: Fostering Innovation for a Safe and Healthy Future

November 6-7, 2025

The 2025 Global Health Summit will provide a collegial interprofessional environment for networking and sharing advances in health education, advocacy, prevention, and research on trauma-informed practice when caring for people impacted by interpersonal, family, and/or community violence and abuse.

AVA welcomes professionals and trainees from all disciplines who are interested in advancing approaches to preventing, identifying, and responding to violence and abuse in our communities. AVA will accept submissions across all aspects of violence and abuse and will prioritize these key areas of interest in 2025:

  • Advocacy and Policy Development
  • Community Engagement and Empowerment
  • Health Professional Education, Training, and Mentoring
  • Interpersonal Violence – Child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and elder abuse
  • Prevention

Submission Categories and Directions

Please use the required templates on page 2 for instructions based on your submission type.

Scientific Abstracts: 15-minute session to include 10-minute oral presentations and 5-minutes of audience questions, or poster sessions reporting the results of original research; must contain quantitative and/or qualitative data.

Seminar: 30-minute session to include 20-minute presentation and 10-minutes of audience questions designed to share knowledge on topic of interest or program.

Workshop: 90-minute session designed to provide knowledge and develop take-home skills for attendees – may include small group discussion, role plays, or other active learning.

The submission deadline is July 15, 2025, 5 PM EDT. Notification of acceptance is August 30, 2025.

Preferred format*: oral, poster, either (no preference)

Abstract: (limit text to 400 words, excluding title and authors)

Background: Describe the context and importance of the study and state the objective(s) and/or hypothesis(es) and/or research question(s) of the study.

Methods: Include a description of the methods used including study design, setting, population, measures, and analytic procedures.

Results: Describe results in sufficient detail to support the conclusions. Tabular/graphic results are acceptable.

Conclusions: State the implications of the findings for clinical practice, research, education, and/or policy.
